Healing: Reality vs Myth
Healing is often spoken about like it is always peaceful, soft, and beautiful.
But, that’s not normally the real experience.
Healing is often spoken about like it is always peaceful, soft and beautiful.
But that has not been my experience, nor the experience of those who are actually focused on healing.
Sometimes healing looks like rage. Sometimes it looks like crying, frustration, feelings of disgust, or maybe even becoming more closed off or guarded at first.
Sometimes it looks like isolation, or finally feeling everything that was pushed down for too long.
Healing isn’t always “love and light”.
A lot of people think healing is all about feeling better but sometimes, it’s more about seeing clearly.
It’s becoming aware of your own patterns, choices, and the role you played. It’s recognizing what you tolerated, where your boundaries were weak and what no longer feels aligned.
This kind of awareness is not always comfortable, but it is honest.
What healing gave me
Healing gave me more discernment. It made me more aware of what I will and will not tolerate.
It brought me to deeper forgiveness and understanding toward myself and others. It helped me see things for what they were instead of what I wanted them to be.
The truth about healing
Healing is not always pretty. It can be uncomfortable, emotional, and confronting. But it can also make you clearer, stronger, and more honest with yourself.
And sometimes, that is what real healing actually looks like.
If this resonated with you, let this be a reminder that healing does not have to look pretty to be real.
